WHAT IS WHEEL OF LIFE AND THE CORE AREAS?
The Wheel of life can be defined as a visual tool that can help people understand how balanced their life is and identify areas for improvement. We can consider Personal Development, Career or Business, Health and Wellbeing, Relationships, Financial Stability, Social Contribution, Environment and Surroundings, Relaxation, Spirituality and more – as the Core areas in the Wheel of Life.
Whatever we are, wherever we are, some of the Core areas are vitally important to anyone who wants to lead an enriching, rewarding and meaningful life. These Core areas are broader and can be divided further into Primary and Secondary Factors related with each of them.
For better insight, let me mention an example. You know how important Communication is in the area of Personal Development. Here Communication is the Primary Factor related to the Core area identified as Personal Development. But communication in itself is broader and can be further divided into Secondary factors, such as Active Listening, Body Language, Behavior and more.
Mostly, people will be good in some core areas, with adequate strength in both Primary and Secondary factors. But let us be honest, we will not be really good in all areas. Shortcoming in any of the areas is going to badly affect our life. Thus, it becomes important for us to identify, prioritize and address them, on our own or rather through external sources to attain desired level of progress.
Please note, it is difficult for anyone to focus on all areas and factors at a time. Ideally, it is good to identify few critical ones and work patiently towards improving them. Preferably, Five Factors at a time for a period of Three Months is a good strategy to begin with; emphasizing the importance of incremental changes, which will make big difference in life.
It is a reality that all Core Areas of life, along with Primary and Secondary factors are entwined with each other and focusing on any of the key factors will often lead to improvement in other areas as well. Inclusive growth and development are directly connected with the overall values that we possess in life.
